Hutchison Ports Port of Felixstowe has taken delivery of its first remote-controlled Yard Cranes/Rubber Tyred Gantry cranes (RTGs). The eight new electric-powered cranes will serve Berths 8&9 where additional container storage has also been created to meet the growing demand at the UK’s leading container port. Commissioning for remote control has now commenced and as a result there will be certain aspects of operation which need to be made familiar to our Haulage operator partners.

The following links portray what these changes are and what will be expected and required to ensure the safe introduction of these cranes into operation in due course.

Are you ready for Brexit ?...
the first easy steps to take

HMRC advise that, as part of the UK’s preparations for leaving the EU, they have issued 88,700 EORI numbers to VAT registered businesses. HMRC felt that these businesses may have been unfamiliar with international trade and may not have understood the full implications of the UK leaving the EU. These businesses would therefore not be able to move goods in and out of the UK without an EORI number. HMRC have written to these businesses to let them know the UK EORI number that they have been assigned, and the next steps they need to take.

For any businesses that are not VAT registered/do not hold a UK EORI number, it is likely they have not received guidance from HMRC, so should apply for an EORI number direct at in order to commercially trade with the EU.

If this could apply to you, or if you are unsure, simply contact our experts by clicking here  to check that your business is ready for Brexit. Alternatively use the link below for the UK Government Trader Checklist:
